My love of wood grew from watching my father using what are now old traditional carpentry skills in his workshop in Vienna.It was as if carpentry was in my blood and at my urging my father took me on as an apprentice cabinetmaker and imparted to me the skills he had learned through a lifetime of creating with timber.
When I graduated I worked in more modern environments using contemporary materials, but my first choice was, and still is, to use old, well-seasoned timber.
Moving to Tasmania 30 years ago, I developed a passion for collecting and working with recycled timbers.
I only use natural finishes (Linseed oil/ citrus thinners), I do not use chemicals.
I use plywood (mainly plantation grown pine, E0) in combination with timbers.
I still use the best European hard ware because they enhance my work and are durable.
I design and build furniture that lasts!
