Our vision at Homes North is for the wellbeing of our community. We develop and manage affordable, secure and sensitively managed homes and work in partnership to create vibrant, inclusive communities. Our business is about connecting people and places, creating new opportunities and we take a place-based approach to advocate for, coordinate and partner with the services that people in our community need.

With over 30 years’ experience in the New England North West region of NSW, Homes North provides a place to call home for over 5,200 people. We strive for an integrated approach to housing that includes community and consumer involvement with consideration of necessary facilities, amenities, opportunities and community supports.

Our organisation works to achieve a just and equitable distribution and access to housing resources in NSW, participating in planning and implementation of housing policies at all levels of government to develop and expand community based non-profit housing programs.

Our objectives
The ability to access safe and affordable housing in the private market can be challenging for many Australians, particularly following the global impacts of COVID-19. Today, not-for-profit organisations, such as Homes North, play an even more important role in the housing sector. Community Housing offers homes for rent to people with low to moderate incomes who are unable to secure affordable private rental accommodation. We provide in-house support or referrals to other services to help our clients sustain their tenancy. We also provide rental assistance to support people in need to secure a private rental property and temporary accommodation for people who are homeless. Providing Community Housing, and helping those who are homeless, is some of the most complex work you can do in the community, so we support our staff with training and skills development to ensure we maintain our focus on positive outcomes.

Homes North provides housing that allows people to live in dignity while having sufficient money to afford basic living costs such as clothing, medical care, food, transport and education. Homes North ensures new builds and where possible renovations, meet the highest design quality standards. Community Housing Providers also consider it their purpose to work with the broader service system through coordination, collaboration and community hubs to deliver improved services and accountability.

We have undergone significant growth in recent years, and now manage approximately 2,700 properties, providing homes for over 5,000 people across the New England and North West NSW area. We have offices in Armidale, Glen Innes, Gunnedah, Inverell, Moree, Tamworth and Coledale.

Homes North Community Housing Co Ltd is a Tier 1 registered provider of Social Housing and a Company limited by guarantee. We are a not-for-profit community housing provider, and have been operating in this sector for 30 years. We are a member of the NSW Federation of Housing Associations and part of a network of 32 housing associations operating throughout NSW.
